2002 Grand Prix GT sedan - 3800 engine When the car is put into park and I shut the engine off the key does not want to turn completely to be removed. I have to push in the gear shift button a few times and move the shifter a few times until it will remove.

Sounds like the park lock cable is out of adjustment or stretched.....I don't have access to my data base right now for the procedure. If you want to do it yourself, I could try to post it for you later. It does involve removing the floor console

If you could post the pocedure that would be great. If I took it to a mechanic, how much time do you think it would take them to complete the job?

Well I guess I misspoke. My system won't let me c & p the procedure. Maybe someone else can jump in here for ya & post it. If not I'll type it out for ya . It calls for about 1.5 to replace, adjusting is about the same. Now I'm just guessing at this point, if you take it in you may want to spend a couple of bucks up front & have them confirm it......
