Radiator fan won't stay on, saturn ion!

I have a 2004 saturn ion, 109k miles... The radiator fan only comes on if i HIT it, physically, with my fist. It doesn't stay on as I'm driving, because when I get into traffic and have to stop, it starts to overheat... You think the motor on it going out or could it be something else?
I had a similar problem with it before and replaced it with the one that's currently in the car. It's not extremely old, maybe a year, and when I hit it, it comes on strong.
Any help would be great... thank you!

You've already diagnosed your own problem. It needs a new fan motor. Jarring is helps the worn out brushed to make contact.
