I have a 1997 Ford Taurus GL Wagon. 3.0 V6, with 144,000 miles. The driver side window will not go up or down. All other windows work properly. When the window switch is pressed, the relay in the fuse panel makes a clicking sound. I replaced with a new relay, and same problem. Checked the driver window switch with a volt-meter, and it has power on both up/down positions. I pulled the motor and tested it with my 12-volt cordless drill battery, and it works both ways. I've thought I covered most bases, but if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate them!

You really haven't covered all the bases yet. First off when testing the switch you have to test for both power and ground in both directions. The switch change polarity in each direction. Next, when checking the motor, it needs to be done in the vehicle. The best way is to test for both power and ground arriving at the motor when the switch is energized. Just because it works outside of the door doesn't mean it has the power to lift the window. You also need to determine if the regulator is broken or frozen in position.
