Potential New Car - Most reliable? Sign In

Hello everyone!

this is my first post here. I am an international student coming to the US next August. I am planning to get a car to use for two years. I am looking for a 4-cylinder convertible. So far I have filtered my choices to the following:

Mazda MX-5
Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder
Volvo C70 Convertible
Saab 9-3 Convertible
BMW Z3

Ps: all the cars im looking at are 2000-2003 models.

I seek your advice on these cars. Since I am a student I would be seriously on a budget crunch and hence I seek a car that wouldn't cause me a lot of headache (i.e. low breakdowns). So which of these should I go for? Any other opinions are highly appreciated.

thanks in advance Smile

Hi,

If on a "budget crunch" why do you insist on a convertible? That's extra buck right out of the gate.

You asked so I'll suggest the Mazda would be a good bet for the most reasonably priced maint and repairs. Used is used as you know and condition is everything,

You are absolutely right. However that's a luxury im looking for, so to rephrase my previous statement: Looking for a cheap convertible with least breakdowns...

If i had to choose from YOUR list,my pick would be the Volvo.....
Then the Mazda....

Rest ...not for me!

Ask a room full of mechanics and you'll sure get a variety of answers...
