Plastic Lining Sign In

I put a new automatic window regulator on my '95 Isuzu Rodeo today. I had to rip off that plastic lining covering up all of the openings after removing the door panel. My question is, how important is it that I replace that lining? I'd imagine it keeps water from hitting the door panel and out of my car in general. It had quite a few gaps in the seal to begin with however. If I really should tear back into the door and replace it, what do you guys recommend using to adhere the plastic to the metal again? I want something that's easy to use and seals well while still being able to be ripped/scraped off again should I ever need to get back into the door, God forbid (pretty much like that tar-like substance that was used in the first place).

Excellent pics BTW! Wanna work on my camera? That plastic has more to do with drafts and many won't remove without trashing them some. If you still have it - tape it where the tape won't show and place it back on. Some used paper which was hopeless and I'd tape all the access holes. This is not critical but is damn annoying if a cold draft blow thru the door handle at you.

You decide if it's worth going back in. If you ever get to this with a door in especially an older vehicle it's a great time to lube up the moving parts with spray grease, WD-40 on back side of locks, latches and assorted things in there. Don't use real grease where glass runs in rubber strips but the thin silicone spray that dries can make them work smooth for a long time. Hard to do that effectively with panel on,

Or if it is hartd to place back, go to your local hardware store and buy a small roll of 10 mil plastic and cut what you need. The rest is handy if you need to paint or clean up somewhere around the house.
