My alternator gage pegged high while driving for a couple of minutes then went back to the middle. I parked it and then 6 hours later I tried to go somewhere and the battery was dead. The alternator will 'see' that the voltage is low, and try and charge the battery. Have the charging system and battery tested to be sure.
