Passenger Low Beam Headlight is not working, help would be appreciated! Sign In

I've got a 1996 honda accord. My passenger side headlight went out a couple days ago, although both of my brights work perfectly fine. It's really annoying the **** outta me because i have to drive with my brights on until i can get it fixed.

Anyways, i replaced the bulb, that wasn't the problem. Checked fuses, they are fine. Used a test light to check wiring, wiring is fine.

My friend attempted fixing it yesterday, i guess there was some corrosion on the inside of the plug where the bulb goes into. He got it working, then it stopped working about an hour later.

What do you guys think the problem is? I have to get this fixed within 7 more days or I'll probably have to pay a fine. Pls help :/

You just said that your friend found a corrosion problem that temporarily fixed it. That would indicate that it just wasn't fixed sufficiently. You may have to replace the pigtail or whatever is corroded. If you tested something with a test light, then that should have indicated exactly where the issue is.

Just FYI - dealing with TWO right now - whole different vehicles. Laugh - wiggle on them they work for a secondCrazy. NAPA sells the pigtails for lots of these and probably other outlets.

One on a newer Altima and one on a sealed beam on a GM. Dang Altima's battery is in the way and will have to come out to SOLDER IN AND SHRINK wrap a new plug. Dang plastic on that one isn't even holding the connections lined up with the bulb. That car isn't local so had to fake it but it stayed working for now.

Suggestion and done it for ions: Make soldered splices in slightly different locations on the new pigtail such that if heat or whatever wrecks the splice job they still won't touch. Wrap it all in by brand Scotch Super #33+ electrical tape* as it's rated for over 221F down to -0.4F - if there's a higher rating go for that.

*That stuff is stretchy at first then finish looser. Pigtail should have enough wire to work with - tie it out of harm's way as possible with plastic zip wire ties as needed if needed.

Take the time to do it right once. Part + tape not all that pricey - just takes a little time,
