You should check the fluid level in your master cyl. If it gets too low it will make that light come on.

If it low, you need to get your brks checked. The frt pads getting low or leak can cause the level to drop enough to turn on the light............

Lightly tap on the reservoir, some times the when the level gets low the sensor will stick on the bottom...

Since the level was very low the brk system needs to be inspected for pad wear & hydraulic leaks to determine the reason for the low level........

Hopefully you used brake fluid and no other substitute or the system would need to be flushed asap....

Yes, if the light went out when you disconnected the reservoir wire, that would be a indication the problem is with the sensor. Either it's "stuck" at the bottom or faulty....

If gently rapping the res didn't get the light to go out. You may need to replace the sensor........ In most cases like this that I've seen the sensor just gets stuck at the bottom...
