Oil for 2.7 Engine

I bought a 2004 Stratus last Feb. that also has the 2.7 engine. AT the time, I really didn't know it was a problem engine. I guess I didn't do the research prior to buying it. After I bought it a friend of mine who is a floor manager for a local used car dealership advised me to have the timing chain tensioner changed at about 50,000 miles. I'm sure everyone one this board is familar with the timing chain problems with this engine. However, after posting this on another car repair site, the advise I got was just keep the oil changed regularly. One person advised adding 4 oz. of STP at every oil change. Others say not to add STP. I am using 10W30 Castrol. Hope it works out. Has anyone on this board had success with the 2.7 engine? If so, what is the secret to keeping the timing belt from causing problems? I appreciate any and all advise.

You shouldn't have a problem because of using Castrol's 10-30 but I bet the car call for 5-30 and allmost all oils will say they meet or exceed new car specs and are rated on the bottle. This car should be under warranty if you have troubles. This site's sponsor amoung a few is Amsoil which is expensive but a high quality synthetic but I still would make sure any warranty stays in effect. It should, T
