Oil cap off engine for 2 week (whining sound in engine) Sign In

I have a 2007 chevy aveo with 60,000 miles on it. I took my car in for an oil change to a local dealership. a few days short of 2 weeks after the oil being changed, I kept smelling oil and saw oil in my garage. My husband popped the hood and there was oil all my engine and front of my car. The dealership never put an engine cap back on my engine and my car was driving for 2 weeks without it. The car was driven 810 miles since the oil change. My oil light never came on. I called the dealership and they came and picked my car. They put new oil in it and cleaned the engine and said everything is fine. This would of a week ago friday. Well on Saturday my car started making a whining sound while running, it sounds like the car is going to die. When my husband popped the hood of my car he noticed a burning rubber smell, and there was alittle bit of white smoke coming from the engine. My question is do you think this is damage due to my engine not having oil in it for almost 2 weeks???

Until someone determines what the problem is now, there is no way we can tell you if they are connected or not. Find out what is wrong with it.
