Oil Pump Audi A3	Sign In

Hello, I have an Audi A3 2.0 FSI 2006. The oil pressure light was coming on when the engine was hot. My mechanic replaced all the sludgy oil and had the oil pump reconditioned and resealed and retested. They have offered a 12 month warranty on this. My question is how long should I expect the oil pump to last now? Am I going to have the same issue in 12 month + time? Thanks Dave

The life of the oil pump isn't your big problem. The totally sludged up engine is.

This is the owners fault. When you don't maintain your engine, this is what you get and there is no cure for a sludged engine. Any attempt to clean it up will result in loose sludge landing in places that will make the problems far worse. Don't expect someone else to take responsibility for what you have done to the car, assuming you are the original owner.

Totally agree! How the heck did this get so sludged up it messed with the oil pump? No telling what other repercussions it has caused already up to fatal for that engine.

If all vitals are good now IMO and experience is just change the oil way too frequently for a good while and let just the new oil slowly take out the sludge. If you try to go fast like a solvent or could happen anyway a chunk of guck ends up clogging up some vital something as HT said.

IMO, now only time will tell,
