My 1993 Eagle vision (3.5L engine) started leaking a bit. My friend checked the oil and said it did not register on the dip stick so he added a quart. I found that hard to believe since the car was running fine, not burning smoke, and there was not much oil on the driveway. Plus the oil was just changed 4 months ago. I later checked the oil and saw it was above the full line. (about an inch.) The oil on the dipstick was clean like brand new so I figured he must have missread the dipstick due to the light color and the strange dipstick that this car has. A different friend said it would not damage my car if I ran a quick errand in the car and kept the rpm's low. Later that day I was going to have a the excess oil drained out and when I checked it again the oil level was fine but the oil had a hint of more brown color and it had the smell of gas. There is still no smoke, no pinging, and only about 3 Tbs of drips after I drove it. Please help me make sense of this! THANKS!

Ok - so your are already a month overdo for a change! If in fact gas is in oil it will destroy the engine is left that way.

You need to know how to check oil and do it often. Have oil with you if need be.

Fuel can get into oil by injectors leaking down or putting out way too much fuel at the wrong times such that it's not all evaporated and would run lousy to boot.

Note: Check oil level when vehicle is level and wait several minutes for it to return to the pan for an accurate reading,

T
