I have a 2002 Craftsman lawn tractor that turns over but doesn't fire up. What can I do to get it up and running. any suggestions. its been sitting outside over the winter and hasn't been run since spring 08.

Same issues happen with cars from sitting.

Expect that fuel is the primary problem at a year or so old. It probably uses a carb and they really don't like staying "wet" for long storage or extended times of non use.

Try to find fuel line and drain off as much as you can. Just put enough new fuel in and get back to it and use a product called SeaFoam which is good at breaking up some types of gunk that old fuel can make. Clean or replace fuel filter. Just plain toss the spark plug for correct new one(s) - too cheap not to and flooded ones will complicate trying as it still may take some tries.

Use starting fluid in where air filter is and re-install air filter. You can also directly spray starting fluid into spark plug holes and replace the plugs and it gets a direct shot.

Basically it's highly likely a fuel issue. Test for spark if no luck. If it lacked spark it wouldn't react to starting fluid if it ran a year ago.

In the future if you have season items run them dry of fuel - it helps a lot when needed later,

T
