I have a 98 Acura CL 3.0 with 175K miles. Recently my car developed a problem no mechanic can diagnose. The steering wheel starts to shake after driving for a while with no specific speed. Turning does not effect the problem. I can drive for an hour, with no issue and then out of nowhere the shaking begins. It starts out mild increasing rapidly. Letting go of the wheel results in a hard pull right. Pressing the braking or turning the wheel makes no difference. The kicker that keeps throwing everyone off is when you press the gas the shaking stops. The shaking is only when my foot is OFF the accelerator. The motor mount is fine. Not a caliper either. What could this be????

A maybe: Wheel bearing perhaps. It would be unusual for one to go bad without noise and they are not adjustable but when they used to be this could happen when they were too loose and could be quiet. Just a thought,

Possible have the inboard CV joint checked, could be dry and when gets hot rollers sticking. Just a thought.

Dear Acura,
I can't tell if you are having shaking or strong pulsing of the wheel, the pulling makes me think pulsing. I wonder could it be faulty valving in the rack and pinion if it has that kind of steering. Just a thought.

hey, by the way, I had a similar problem, tried more than a few things. Turned out to be bad tires, Tire shops told me balancing. No go, Something was wrong with the tires! Replaced front tires, No more problems!!

Hey guest have you found anything out yet? I've been having very similar issues with my car as well and every dumb mechanic that's looked at has told me anything in this world except for what has to do with the suspension system. All have told me motor mounts so i had all of them replaced (180,000 miles in service) and STILL...one different mechanic told me i needed new mounts RIGHT AFTER I had them all replaced! LOL!
