No door switch! Sign In

I have a 98 Ford Windstar minivan. The light on the dash shows I have a door ajar but all the doors are shut, I believe it is the front passenger door. This also leaves the interior lights on and thus drains my battery. I've looked and there is no pin switch on the door or on the body anywhere to activate the interior lights. Does anyone know where the switch is that does this so I can adjust/fix it? Thanks for any help.

It is built into the door latch, inside the door where it hits and locks on the door jam post. Sometime a little wd40 will temporarly solve the problem, but best to replace the switch. good luck.

exactly, the door latch grounds out with the door striker completeing the connection, my 02 ranger would do the same and was able to use wd40 to fix it temporarily. it would only last about a couple weeks. what i did for a more long term fix is take some brake cleaner and spray the hell out of it. let it dry. then spray some silicon lubricant in there. its been about 3 months.

Thanks for the help. As soon as the snowstorm subsides, I'll try it.

I just wanted to let you all know, I used some PB Blaster on all the door latches a week ago and that did seem to fix the problem. Thanks for your help.
