Nissan 02 Altima stop running whenever coming to a stop Sign In

My Nissan Altima will run well for long distance travel but the engine will stop running immediately break is applied after running for about 20 miles non-stop. So I have taken to decode the engine light and they say its cylinder mis-fire. I have them check my plugs and fuel injector and the mechanic says they are all fyn.

Now if I come to a stop I always put one leg on the gas and one on the brake this way I keep it running till the light come green. I know this is not right please any advice will be appreciated as my mechanic is kind of confuse on what could be wrong.

If you are getting a misfire code, then it is probably correct. It should be a P0300(random), P0301(cyl 1), P0302(cyl2), P0303(cyl3) ect.... Try a different 'mechanic' if they can't find the cause of the misfire. By continuing to drive it, you can damage the catalytic converter. Since it runs okay when cold, and will be running rich when cold, it may be masking a lean condition. Regardless, it needs to be diagnosed and repaired.
If you know the code(s), post them here and maybe, we can help.
