New rear tires and suddenly pulling to the right Sign In

1996 Honda Civic DX 3-dr hatchback, 1.6 liter 4 cyl. engine with 135,000 miles, original owner. I just bought 2 new tires at a Costco and they put the new ones on the rear of my car and moved the older rear tires to the front. Before the new tires my car did not pull. As soon as the new tires were installed my car pulls to the right when I'm driving. I checked the tire pressure and the tires are ok. What could be wrong? Would it be alignment if there was no pull before the new tires were put on the rear? Or might it be a bad tire? Help!

I suggest when getting new tires - best in pairs at least also getting an alignment as the used tires may have worn into a pattern of being out of line and now it's showing up. A responsible alignment should include checking for worn steering and suspension parts. If it was the old tires if you swapped those left to right and it pulled the other way, they have a problem is my bet,

Since I got the 2 new tires at Costco, there was no alignment because Costco doesn't do that. The two tires that WERE on the back are now on the front and pulling to the right. Would you say the best and least expensive way to test for the problem is to switch the front two older tires (that still look in great shape) to see if the car pulls to the right still? If they don't pull that means one tire is defective, correct? If they DO pull, that means it's the alignment, correct?

You have already pretty much isolated it to the tires. You should never change just one tire anyway so replacing the front 2 tires should resolve you're issue.
