hey there, im new to this site so not sure how all this works yet, but im having a few probs with my 1993 renault clio, im taking it to get a few repairs done on monday and dont wanna get ripped off, i need to have the following repairs done:
Fan belt needs tightening
oil needs changing
rear wheel bearings
and an overheating problem (fan dont kick in when gets hot)
How much am i looking at? im new to the road and this is my first car so any advice would be appreciated!!

Hi and be safe new driver!
I don't know these cars at all but it doesn't matter for routine things it's general. Fan belt may need replacing at this age if never done - some easy - some harder but not too expensive. Perhaps a 1/4 hour's labor at the rate you should know up front.
Lube, oil and filter $ will vary on the quality of parts you want. This could be a special for $20 on up. Ask up front how that shop charges for this common service.
Wheel bearings: Most cars in that vintage use a sealed bearing that includes the hub. They can cost some bucks. That type would have just one on each wheel. Call for prices. You don't usually need both sides. A good bearing can last indefinately. If this has the "inner" and "outer" greasable type bearing they are less expensive and again you should need all four for the back. I just replace the bad ones - others will do both in a wheel and it depends on what is found when there.
Overheating - no fan: Could be an inexpensive coolant temp switch, a relay, or the fan motor is shot and they can get expensive. No telling on costs without knowing what's not working. Fix that as your whole engine is relying on you to not overheat it which can ruin the whole engine!!!!

Now some advice for you as a new driver and car owner: Watch out for all the other cars, don't go too fast, and go slow in weather conditions until you know what is safe for you and what the car can handle. Read the owner's manual. Ya - it's boring but it's full of good info and advice. Learn how to change a tire!! Get a tire pressure gauge and check them often...... and don't forget the spare! Learn how to check fluids and what type is used for what and how to add it. When something needs topping off or a tire keeps needing air - find out why.
