NOT WORKING Sign In

I have a 1996 Taurus, dream car!

Recently the speedometer and trip-odometer decided to stop working. along with this, the stereo does not turn on as well. I checked the primary fuse panel under the hood and all was clear. Anybody have any ideas?

Re: NOT WORKING Sign In

BJ; Is this an analog speedometer, or digital? Either way, the speedo/odometer get their information via a (go figure)
speed sensor, usually located in the transmission. If this is a digital instument cluster, then is more than likely an electrical problem. At this point, I can't think of a connection between this and the radio, though. Of course, check all of the fuses under the dash. Using a test light on both ends of the fuse with the ignition on to be sure you have current passing through the fuses. Might get lucky. This is the end of the fuse that you'll see. On each side of the "15" is a small metal tab. You should have 12V on either tab if the fuse is good. If you have power on only one side, the fuse is bad. This pic is of a 15Amp fuse. Other amperages are different colors, but all test the same.
