Hi,
I am posting on behalf of my Dad as he hasn't got access to the internet, but am hoping someone can give some advice.
My Dad's car is a Skoda Octavia 2004 1.9 turbo diesel, which has suffered a loss of power and is using more diesel than usual. But no one can seem to find what the problem is.
The car has been off the road for about 2 mths now having spent most of the time in 2 garages one being a Skoda dealer and the other a Auto Diesel specialist.
So far all they can come up with is,
The turbo is OK
Airflow meter is OK
No fault on the Engine Management System
The Injectors have been in for coding and came back OK
1 vacuum pipe has been replaced.
But still no real clue as to the problem or a solution.
If any one has any advice or suggestions, it would be much appreciated as now my Dad has got the car back from the second garage, he really doesn't know where to go from here.

Was the loss of power sudden or gradual?

Hi,
The car first went into the garage when it started using more fuel than usual, that is when the injectors were checked and the vacuum pipe was replaced. He picked it up from the garage and noticed the loss of power when he got to the first hill and the car struggled.

Folks see you. I'm not so good with diesels myself so hard for me to suggest. Know that many of the regulars here are US and Canada - some AU. Searched and found this car is sold mostly to the UK - right?
Best I can suggest is a compression test as I know diesels are highly reliant on top compression condition to run at all and water in fuel can be problems as filter should be water separating - perhaps with a drain. The pic above came from Amazon.UK for a manual for the car. Those may or may not help.

had a friend had the same car with the same problem, and sure enough he had a compression test done and that was the problem
