a bad oxygen sensor wouldnt just suddenly shut the jeep down.

i would look more towards the fuel side of the equation.

partially clogged fuel filter.

weak fuel pump.

Like Dmac said & 02 isn't going to normally cause a problem like this. Intermittens can be tough but what you 1st have to do if figure out if you are losing spark or fuel. Once you know that it will help narrow down the field and start testing in the right areas. Also when it does die, does it start right back up or do you have to let it sit for a bit?

There are about 7 or 8 monitors than run and they run in a certain order. If certain conditions aren't met a monitor won't run & then downstream monitors also won't run until the upstream monitor runs. Might be connected, might not. Got find the main problem 1st & go from there....

I have a question however how do I exactly check my fuel pressure? Is there an easy way? I am now going to check the fuel filter as well now.

Thank You for your responses! I as well thought it might be a fuel problem, tomorrow I am going to change the fuel filter and once I figure out how to check the fuel pressure I will do that to as well. Thanks

To check the fuel pressure there should be a test port on the injector rail you attach the gauge to but 1st you really need to see if it's a spark of fuel problem.

When it won't start hook up a spark tester (you can get any part store) & see if you have spark or if you don't have one, just give it a couple of shots of starting fluid or carb clean. If the engine starts for a couple of seconds then you know it's a fuel problem, if not then you will have to verify no spark...

No the engine does start up after it shuts down, but it quickly shuts down after a few seconds or a minute.

If I understand correctly the engine will start right back up before you even had time to pop the hood? If that's the case it makes it real hard to diagnosis. You would need a scope hooked up to different circuits & pressure gauge on the rail to determine what you are losing & when.

You said you've already replaced the crank sensor which would be one of the most common items for this problem. Did it make any change at all in the problem? More frequent, less frequent, quicker start time, slower start time, wife nicer? Scratch the last one Wink but if you can't get to the engine with it's malfunctioning it makes it double tough & guessing can get expensive from here on out.

it will start after its first shut down, but it will only go for a few feet and then it shuts down again, so I have to let it sit and disconnect it from the battery so the memory is wiped clean and it will run for a mile or two and shut down.

Just tossed that at ya for what its worth.

Had a couple that did the exact same thing,Never set a code,No MIL,Everything seemed to check out OK.
Both turned out to be PCM Failures.
I agree its an expensive part to guess at.And it has to be programmed to the vehicle.

I'm not implying to go out and toss a PCM in it.Just relating what i've seen.
May or may not be!

Well when I will replace the oil filter and check if the fuel pressure is ok, and the problem still persists then I have no choice but to grab a new PCM.

Lol, well I dont think you've got the picture right. The car does not start right back up by itself but when I go and turn it on it starts up but it is very, very weak. Heck, I might even upload a video on Youtube just to show you guys how exactly it shuts down and starts back up, when it shuts down it almost seams like it gets weaker and weaker by the seconds like its not getting any gas.

If you can pinpoint the area that is giving you trouble with the tools you have, then you have a shot at tracking it down. If not then maybe way weigh out the cost of a diag as opposed to how much you may be out. Intermittens can be a pain.....
