Hi Guys
please bear in mind im a female and dont know year of car, sorry!
last week my partners car was misfireing or chuggin as i call it :) he changed the leads and spark plugs as thought this may help. It worked for a day and then it started misfiring and chugging constantly, noise coming from under bonnet and smoke coming from exshaust. The smoke looks white to me. We are taking to garage tomorrow, or gettin RAC to pick up as cannot drive it. Anyone know what could be wrong and the price it might cost? thanks in advance for your help :)

I would ask the garage to diagnose the problem which by description would expect to be a head gasket job but allow them to do their work for the best possible fix. It could and probably will need more than just a gasket and they are pricey to do properly.
