The plastic part that houses one of the side view mirrors was partially melted, along with a plastic moulding on one of the roof racks -- both parts were on one side. Is this possible? If the parts are dark or black and the car sat all day or at least a long time with little or no shade and no breeze it's possible. Been a long time but I've been in some high altitude strong sun that made a car so hot you really could have cooked in it. I don't think this is common but It probably was not some kind of vandalism. Sorry that happened to you but it is interesting that it can. Haven't heard that even from folks/friends in Las Vegas, Tucson, and Phoenix where sun is intense.
