MPV FEUL GAGE PROBLEM

I own a[code] 1996 MPV with 75k miles. Once the fuel gage riches below half tank the gage imediatly goes to empty. Once I fill up the emaining tank the gage adjusts to full. The same proceess repeats once the tank is just below the half mark. Can any one offer some sort of an explanation, mush appreciated.

Guess what, you're not alone. Chevy has service bulletins on just about every sending unit, it seems, with that problem. Holds true for my van as well. The fix, replace fuel tank sender and pump assembly. Not cheap.
