I have a 1993 buick park ave, 3.8 ltr V6, approx 100K mi.....
The manual from Haines Auto gives data on both types of sensors because it's written for years spanning 85' thru 98'. I found what appears to be a MAF sensor in the air flow assembly, so I have three questions...
1. Is it possible for both types of sensors to be used ?
2. Where is the MAP sensor mounted if it is part of the emmisons system? So far I can't find it, and am starting to think it's not a piece of the puzzle.
3. How would I know if the system is OBD-1 OR 2....is it on the emmission sticker ? If so I'm not seeing it?

if you have a sensore in your intake air ducting/tubing it sounds liek you have a MAF sensor setup but in answer to your questions
1: as far as i know its one or the other.
2: the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) would be as the name states on your intake manifold somewhere. I believe the MAP sensor is only used to monitor the EGR system in OBD-II systems
3: prior to the 1996 model year are OBD-I systems and are manufacturer specific. 1996 and later are all universal OBD-II systems
