Looking for a mentor, in arlington, Texas Sign In

I live in Mansfield Tx (near Arlington)
I would like to make friends with a person(s) or get introduced to local auto clubs, knowlegdable about fixing cars to help me learn to do basic stuff like changing brakes, changing oil, changing starters/alternator/distributor/spark plugs, belts, hoses, priming A/C with freon etc. I am jobless right now so I want to cut down expenses. I have a Nissan Maxima 1995
Please if there is a good samaritan out there willing to help/tutor me on this I will trully appreciate it. First visit will include a 6pack from me to break the ice!
Sincerely
wuodk

wuod; What is your age? Many high schools have job-experience programs available. And, most Jr. Colleges have automotive programs that are very affordable. We have high school kids come in for a semester at a time to get an idea of what it's like getting your hands filthy, losing blood regularily, and smelling like....well, you get the idea.
But, if it's really what you want to do, go for it. If you just want to learn basics to get by, there is a wealth of information here, and other places on the internet and at your local library. If you need help on a specific job, feel free to ask here. We'll do our best to help.

I am "old" forties I dont think work can allow me go to votech, what I need is a guy/gal who I can go, when they are free, and take my car and walk me through one thing at a time, say change brakes. Thats what I need. I have tried reading books etc but to no avail.
Thanks I will keep looking and asking around
