Hi there, im new to the forum's and just need a little help if possible, any help greatly appreciated!

I live in Newcastle and am wanting to travel to Glasgow on Friday, but im a bit paranoid about my car. I dont have any break down cover as such, just wondered if you's think my car would make it safe and sound ?

Its quite an old car, an R reg Fiat Punto SX, got 64k on the clock.

My friend seems to think it would be ok but I want to make sure, he told me to make sure I've got a spare tyre, a bottle of water in the boot and my water bottles full as he said the roads are dirty this time of year.

Anyone able to advise anything else?

Thanks,
Stephen

Welcome to the site. They don't sell that car where I am - but no matter. Dirty roads expected as you said so check you air filter for the trip and upon return if that dusty. Spare tyre air pressure should be checked too as just time allow then to lose pressure.

Things sound good to go and do the usual things of checking all fluid levels and routine maintenance items are up to date. If this car uses a rubber timing belt check the owner's manual as to when it suggests replacement usually by miles but if really old now it's worth thinking about a new one. You said it was an old car but not what year.

Have a good trip,

T
