Can anyone give me a link to a diagram of where the starter is on a 98 S-10 pick up?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Doc
That’s a great link; a lot of times autozone’s descriptions leave a bunch of holes in the how too portion. This one does everything, just short of sending someone out to do it for you. LOL

Dan.

Thanks for the link! I'm suprised that it is on the opposite side of the battery, or can that be different depending on the year? It looks in those diagrams like the starter is on the right side of the engine if you are looking at it.

Thanks again!

Right side is as you see a vehicle sitting in it. For the US that would be the passenger's side - Doc drives on the other side or should I say Australia does. I like to rdo that here but it's such a hassle with all the cars coming right at you!!Wink That link posted either side depending on the engine. Bat would be placed for the most popular engine which should be the 4.3 six,

Don't you love it when you hit that nail RIGHT ON THE HEADSmile

Took me a while to find that link, but got there in the end. Hey Tommy - Would be weird if I was the only one driving on the wrong side of the road, glad you cleared that up with explaining that all the crazy aussies do it!Wink

Thanks guys! I did get it changed out, even in the 25 MPH winds and snow. Wasn't fun, but it had to be done. The only bad part is the fitting on the end of the wire from the starter to the ignition broke. So I had to clamp on a copper fitting but couldn't get the best crimp. I'm at my apartment at school so it will do until I get home on Thursday. I put a bunch of electrical tape and clamped it enough to hold until then. At least at home I have a heated garage to work in.

Thanks again for the link! Surprisingly the starter was on the opposite side of the engine than the battery.
