My 99 grand cherokee will not start. The key will not turn and neither will the gear shifter. It appears that the shifter is in park, but I feel like its just out of gear. We tried turning the wheel, rocking the car back and forth while wiggling the shifter, and colorful language. Any other ideas?

That has happened to my car and it was a fuse. Maybe this will work for you. Maybe worth checking. edit: SOrrry this only applies to the shifting if the key won't turn I can only think that it's the wheel lock
I can Do IT

You probably have a bad ignition lock but try pulling hard back and forth on the wheel while trying the key. If it doesn't work, then it's going to have to come apart. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
