KNOB on wkndow crank - 98 Chevy Metro Sign In

Howdy, everybody. Thanks for taking the time to check out my question!

The knobs on both of the front window cranks on my '98 Chevy Metro broke off, and I can't for the life of me figure out what they're called when I go looking online for replacements. You'd think they were just called "knobs," right? Apparently not! :-)

Anyhow, if anybody could tell me what the proper name is for that part, I would be greatly obliged, and if anybody could further go to the trouble to point me to a place online where I could buy such, I would be even more grateful!

Oh, and while we're at it—it is just a simple matter of popping these things in, right?

Thanks again!!!

You may be better off to buy a replacement crank handle. If you want them to look alike, you may need to buy 2. Or go to a salvage yard to see if you can get used ones.

If you mean just the round knob at the end there may be aftermarket kits but you need to take the whole crank arm off to do that right.

To get the arm off could be a couple ways: There could be a horshoe type "U" clip with open end towards the knob that a special tool really helps or perhaps a vinyl plug or flap that a small flat screwdriver could lift up revealing the fastener which could be a screw -- allen, torx, phillips -- not sure as I think Metros are a mix of GM and Geo.

I do notice more and more of these type parts made aftermarket at places like AutoZone, and a few others like them. Even Napa is in on that act.

The salvage yards around me don't like to sell parts to a whole good door but will when they get older. May be the same part for many models/years.

Dealers will have exactly what you want and a blowup diagram on a screen so you can see just how it goes on and off. I'm looking for a silly power side view mirror know to a 96 Suburban and they only sell it with more than I wanted for about $75 for what looks like a $2 part.

Hit back if you still have trouble finding this (these) and I'll look when I'm out scavenging!

Thanks for the replies!

I'll check with some auto-parts stores first, but it's looking like I may just have to go to the dealer and see what they can tell me.

You guys have been very helpful. Thanks a million!
