Is this a broken swing bar? Sign In

2007 Honda CRV, 140,000 miles

I don't know much about car repair, but we heard a strange noise while driving and I looked underneath the driver's side wheel and I saw the bar attachment in the picture was broken. I recently had the strut replaced two weeks ago. My questions, what exactly is the piece that is broken, is it safe to drive with this piece broken, and should this of been addressed during a car inspection when the strut was replaced. Thanks for the help and feel free to correct me on any of the info I gave.

I call those "sway" bars. It's attached to the strut up top and just broken off at the bottom. Follow that it should go to the other side look the same but is probably attached and intact.

If the question is was it noticed IDK? It just might have hooked up and been fine and those bust with hitting pot holes which are everywhere. Look at you own pic the thing is or has been touching the half shaft just isn't making so much noise yet or is the reason you went to look? That's the noise you hear.

Did you replace just one strut or both? Just one isn't suggested unless you refused to do both but think it should have been said do both AND an alignment it doesn't show any fresh marks of that or grease on the sway bar's fitting.

Is it safe to drive? Yes and no > If it hits something all wrong it could cause damage if it can reach brake hose or other things. I can't say it's safe to drive or not so easily but needs attention next IMO and back to one side only if applicable why are you doing that or it's not being suggested?
