Basically I am wondering if it is possible to damage a ABS speed sensor while doing a cleaning and repair of brakes...what follows is my story.......

-----
I had my ABS light come on two weeks ago.

They replaced my RIGHT FRONT ABS SPEED SENSOR and said they CLEANED AND SERVICED THE REAR BRAKES.

The second time I drove my car after I got it back the ABS light came on again!

I returned to the shop and now they say they have to replace the REAR LEFT ABS SPEED SENSOR.

I am wondering if during the cleaning of the rear brakes if it is a possibility that they somehow damaged the rear ABS speed sensor...I do not know ANYTHING about mechanics...so please help if you can!!!!

Thanks!

Anything is possible and you or I were not there to know how or what they did to clean/serviced the brakes?
If the servicing were done, with a reasonable amount of care; it’s not likely they are at fault, other then; they were the last ones to touch the system.
Coincidence is not a word that too many customers like to hear or believe but it happens.
Have you ever accidentally bumped a lamp, sitting on your coffee table at home and the light bulb flickered out, burnt?
If so you then know what I mean; you didn’t hit the bulb, you just touched the lamp itself; no fault to be laid.
Maybe this sensor was on the verge of failing and didn’t like being touched either?
Just out of customer service and relations; I would think the shop could/should give you some form of consideration, when it came to writing the bill for this? I’m not saying free but something, to off set the possible doubt in your mind and make you feel as a respected customer.

Bravo Dan! Well said. If all shops followed the recomendation you made and took time to explain why our industry would have a much better name than it dose.
