I have a 1993 Mustang with a 5.0L that I just converted from power steering to manual steering. I can't remove the power steering pump though because it is needed for proper routing of the serpentine belt. Is it okay to just plug the input and output ports of the power steering pump, fill it with the correct amount power steering fluid, and run it as is with its ports plugged? Thanks.

No, that would just cause it to build up pressure. I think it will eventually burn itself out, regardless of how it is rigged.

Agree - NO. I've never heard of a dummy pulley for PS either but if on a mission you could have one made up.k Why would you do this anyway?

They can get you right size belt to bypass the p/s pump.. I have done this on older f150 when the air pump seizes up.. take string run it around you pulley's like the belt would route, but bypassing the P/S pump.. tie it tight, remove the string and measure how long it is. Bring in your old belt so you get the right width and amount of ribs.. buy the belt one size down from your measurement to allow for the tensioner.

Install and make sure your marks line up on the tensioner .. to loose and cause belt slip too tight will take out the bearings in your accessories..

good luck
