Dear Forum,

Tires and Wheels problem
1994 Mazda MX6 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual 135000 miles

Dear Pros,
I hit a curb last night, driving in the snow. It was a moderate impact, going around a curve, I glanced off of the curving sidewalk; maybe 5 MPH. Both wheels hit sideways (turned into the curb while turning right). The car seems to be driving fine; no tendency to drift right or left; stable at all speeds, steering wheel same orientation as before accident.
Should I fork out the money to have the alignment checked, or can I monitor tire ware to see if it is OK? Are there any checks I can do to tell if it is out of alignment?

Could never be sure without a thorough check of course. Sounds good so far though.

When clean and clear enough do check as much as you can visually. True 5mph isn't so fast but who really knows. Index of steering is a good sign then plain check rims, rubber and spin them for trueness to see if bent.

I'm compelled to default to suggesting that it be professionally checked out. You were there and would have a better clue on how it feels.

Take a good look at tire wear now and if anything show "feathering" or uneven wear definitely go for the alignment asap,

Thanks for the reply! I found a shop that gives free checks if nothing wrong. Their price is a little higher than most, but I think it's worth it to have the chance of nothing wrong. I guess I'll give it a go. I appreciate your help!
