Okay, I need a bit of help. I have a 2006 ford focus automatic with a 2.0L engine.

On Friday the battery light came on for a short period, which it has a few times, but it always turns off again. Shortly after that all of my gauges shut off, so I turned off everything that used power (headlights, stereo, air conditioning) and then after a few all the gauges came back on. About 5 miles later the same thing happened and then the car shut off. 15 minutes later it let me start it up again and I drove the rest of the way home (1 mile).

I replaced the battery on upon recommendation, and it made 1 short trip (4miles round trip) no problems, and then when a 2nd trip was made (same 4 miles) the gauges shut off again and the car made it the rest of the way home. I was then told to replace the alternator. So, after doing that and having everything installed it started to blow the engine management fuse. All the wiring is right, and there are no melted connections. Can you help me with any idea as to what would cause this to happen?

You say wiring is ok but I say nay.It sounds like an intermittant short to ground. The last tme I worked on a similar complaint it wound up being the harness was routed to close to the exhaust. A short trip ...no problem ...a second or longer trip and a wire's insulation would melt and BINGO . Shutdown and cool off , wire would unground till next time . Check wiring REAL GOOD .Look for contact with sharp edges or hot areas . Wiggle , tug , twist harness while eng hot idleing in park.

The car won't even start now. The fuse just blows even before i crank it. I turn the ignition to on and it pops.

As I said . It could be a short in the engine harness. Inspect the wiring closely for damage.
