Year of vehicle: 2000 Make of vehicle:Toyota Model of vehicle: Avalon Engine size :3.o My toyota would not start last week. I took the ignition switch off today. I immediately noticed the piece with both male ends that connect the key cylinder and ignition switch was broken in the ignition switch. Its the piece that fits squarely in and between the key tumbler the ignition switch and turns the switch on and off. Anybody know the of this piece? It looks like a switch blade.

I know the part you are talking about but can't give you a technical name for it. If it's even available it would be thru the dealer only so the best thing would be to go to the parts dept and have them bring up an exploded view an show you so you can point it out.... From my experience, when little stuff like that breaks, that doesn't normally break you wind up having to replace the whole column because it isn't available by itself....
