Hub Bap Cracked	Sign In

I was driving over some railroad tracks, and I guess I drove to close to left, maybe hit something, and went off the road a little, just the tires on the passenger side, not the entire car. I got back home, looked at the tires. They're mostly fine. The hub caps of the tires are cracked quite a bit (hub caps plastic or something), and one of the tires has a scratch or something. The hub caps are a bit bent and kind of pushing into the tires a little. It does not look serious, just a little beat up.

Should I get them replaced? How do I get them replaced? What precautions should I take? Where can I get hub caps? Can I do it on my own, or should I get someone else (a professional) to do it? And what about the scratch in the tire? I don't think the tire is deflating, and I just replaced that tire less than a year ago.

This can be a safety issue! Tire specialty and other shops can figure on if wheel can be saved or needs replacement. Shops that specialize in tires usually have good access to wheels, hubcaps, and assorted hardware for wheels available new or used.

Any chance of the tire being pinched it should be checked up to and including removing it for internal damage - treads,belts, sidewalls can separate and fail later even if holding air now!
