How to find cheapo, minimalist body repair Sign In

Hi all,

My 1992 Saturn was damaged in a fender-bender. The engine's OK, but the body's a mess. I'm looking for advice on how to do minimalist repair of body damage. I will be able to buy another car in a few months, but need to make my car drivable until then. All the body shops seem oriented toward making the car look good as new. I don't care if my car looks like crap, I just want it to be legal & safe to drive.

The accident did serious damage to the left front of the car. It basically destroyed the left headlight & the part of the body that covers the left front side of the car. The left side of the front bumper is damaged & that side of the bumper is hanging off.

What is the cheapo version of taking care of something like this, & how do I find someone who will do it?

Sasha

Won't insurance pay to have it repaired to safe condition? If you don't want to fix it so it is safe to be on the road, park it. Pieces falling off could place you in jeopardy if it caused damage to someone else.

Ask at a salvage yard for just what it needs to be legal and ask if they'll do it there. Places here will in some cases. Lights, no sharp edges and nothing about to fall off. Looks alone doesn't disallow use but the safety items must be operational and again - no sharp edges will matter almost everywhere I know of,
