How to disable an alarm..... Sign In

I have a 1990 Chrysler Imperial with a theft alarm that keeps going off, or it won't disarm after I unlock the car, and I can't get the car started. I use to disarm the alarm from the drivers side door, it won't work from that side anymore. A AAA man told me that the system is getting old and beginning to ware out on the drivers side door, now I have to disarm it on the passenger side. This is only a 2nd car that I drive to work, nothing special. Is there anyway to disconnect this alarm system and still be able to start the car? I really don't need the alarm to work , I would rather know the car was going to start when I get in it. I don't know if I can disconnect this alarm and still be able to start the car. Any idea's?

There is no universal way to disarm this. If they were all the same there would be no point in them to begin with and If I had an easy answer (I don't) I'd be irresponsible to post that on thet web.

They can be removed but of course shouldn't be that easy and each vehicle with the same alarm could be installed differently.

Best bet is to find a place or THE place that installed it and see if they can help and they should ask you to proove you own the car. Bet they don't know for sure but with some time which is really how they work as it would take too much time to see what and where things were done to disable the car for many theives.

Hope it's a real cheap and simple one if you have to chase down how it was installed and undo it, T

chances are its factory installed and its linked with a mess of other circuits including horn, lamps, signal, ignition etc....but there should be a module somewhere in the car which you can bypass, usually under the driverside dash. i cant say for sure, not too good with domestic.
