How often should I change transmission fluid and power steering fluid in 99 toyota avalon? Sign In

Hi,

How often should I change transmission fluid and power steering fluid in 99 toyota avalon?

When I do google for this, I get different answers. Some says every 30k, some says every 80k-100k. What is right answer?

Is $200 for transmission oil change and $150 for power steering fluid change normal price to do so?

Thank you.

The prices are just a little on the steep side.

It's really a matter of opinion. I'm of the opinion that 30K is the right time. The dealers like to claim low maintenance costs so they often tell you to go longer but they don't care if you need a transmission at 100K. That won't be their problem.

Hard to give you a "right" answer but owner's manual should list out a maintenance schedule and probably based on type of use the vehicle is subject to.

If a '99 anything has never had trans service the jury is out on whether to start now. Two ways - one is total fluid change and a new filter and another is just about 1/3 or so by just dropping the pan and do a filter knowing it's not changing ALL the fluid.

PS: May not list a schedule for that but follow any suggestions in the manual.

IMO - those prices you mentioned seem high to me?
