After a battery disconnect how long does it take the ECU to relearn? I heard anything fro a couple minutes to 100 miles.

I think for my VW it takes about a week of driving but other may disagree,, What is the experts opinion, thanks.

Year, make, model, and engine size?

What is the issue your having? Was there any previous work done? What adaptations are you concerned about? (Block learn, idle speed learn, emissions monitors, and/or etc.)

2005 VW GTI Auto 1.8t

I noticed that it takes about ten minutes before the car starts to shift flawlessly,, the first ten minutes after starting it seems to be off, I was wondering it this is because I replaced the MAF and disconnected the battery how long does it take that to readjust?

Can you be more specific about the transmission being off? Is it shifting, early, late, soft, or hard? Is this a semi-auto or automatic transmission?

Adapts shouldn't take very long for the ECU to figure out. Did it have this problem before you replaced the MAF? Why was the MAF replaced?

It seems to be shifting a bit hard it is an auto tiptronic. I think it may be normal just not sure. But after it is warmed up it runs fine. I thought it may be the mAF that is why I replaced it but it is not that.

Is the check engine light on or is the ECU storing any trouble codes? Might go ahead and move this to the transmission section if you want. Got a real good transmission tech that comes in here giving advice.

Suggestion sport. Quit disconnecting batteries on anything without a memory saver an know how to use it. Save a lot grief if only common clock and other presets throughout cars
