If the rod is not secured properly into its clip.....

Can the rod which is not secured cause any damage to your car?
whats the worst that could happen if the rod is not secured?
any serious damage. or will it just make a rattling noise...
just wondering..

thank you

Re: "Hood Rod" Question Sign In

carnoob; In 'most' cases, an unsecured rod will/can cause a rattle. You'll just have to take a look at where the rod lies to see if there is anything near that it could rub against and cause damage. Some lay along the top of the radiator which would be a concern.

Re: "Hood Rod" Question Sign In

If I had to guess (which I do), I'd guess we're talking about a Nissan Altima.

Loren pretty much covered the bases on possible problems. If you don't want to get a new holder from the dealer, you can try keep in place with a piece of wire.

If it is a Altima, those are a little tricky due to where it mounts...... About the best backyard repair I've seen todate on one those, had a hole drilled in the broken holder with a piece of single strand wire going thru & twisted around the rod..........
