You'll just have to take a look at where the rod lies to see if there is anything near that it could rub against and cause damage. Some lay along the top of the radiator which would be a concern. Loren pretty much covered the bases on possible problems. If you don't want to get a new holder from the dealer, you can try keep in place with a piece of wire. If it is a Altima, those are a little tricky due to where it mounts......
