My Honda Civic 1993 4dr has a good deal of rust underneath it, but it's all on the drivers side for some reason. Also the rust has gotten so bad that the floor where the driver puts his/here feet now caves in when you step there. I was just wondering if this affected the frame of the car and if it could still pass safety. Finnaly how much would it cost 2 repair?

R U S T is a four letter word for sure. It wouldn't pass state inspection in Mass. No rust thru allowed here and probably most places. Back when you could pull in like Fred Flintstone and they didn't care as long as your heap could get out of the shop.

In a unit body car which this is floors are the frame of the car. You really should have a body shop give you an idea of what it would cost or whether it's worth it at all. If the rust is just that door and just that floor it may have been damaged once and most body work will rust faster than original coach work.

This isn't the easiest DIY problem. A real body shop could tell you if it really is a safety concern structurally. Some can just be bondoed over and some shouldn't but rather repair metal welded in,

no, the rusted area underneath the drivers feet is still the original frame as the factory made. And anything 1000$ and under seems as a reasonable fix to me.

If just there and ok elsewhere go for it. You can get that fixed right for way under $1,000 US. The door might be available in the right color if you hunt for it with a popular car like that.

Can't explain the door but the floor can rust from salty water that comes off your shoes and gets thru the carpeting. Any water actually but more common where roads are salted. I've seen that just pick on the driver's floor a few times with assorted cars. I've fixed lots of old cars with rust problems - all frame rust on real chassis cars as they were good cars otherwise.

I'd just ask a body shop about this as you are a cash customer and they should love that vs dealing with ins work and could give you a decent price or perhaps tell you that you could do it yourself - I can't 'cause I can't see it of course,
