Honda Accord Trunk Leak

My 1991 Accord has a cronic trunk leak. I have tightened the trunk lid to compress the gasket but now feel the leak is from water seepage under the trunk gasket. There appears to be silicon caulk all around the gasket, which leads me to believe it either came that way from the factory or has been patched in the past.
Does anyone have any experience with this model and suggestions?

OK - you have tightened it so the next test is the back window. Tape it off with something removable for a test. Not nice but your spare tire might be a mess. Check that out,
