Help with Rack & Pinion change 05 Dodge Caravan

Hi, I need to change the rack & pinion on a 2005 dodge caravan, I can change it I think, but sure would like some tips, they want 1300 to do it at the shop, I have not been able to find anything on changing it so any help would be grate, Thanks So Very Much.

It's not as easy at meets the eye but $1300 is a bit steep - IMO!

That from AutoZone - know that you also will need an alignment on top of the job, PS fluid - misc.
OK: If you really want this job know that it may be sticky to remove lines and jockey old one out up to tilting engine/trans or whatever is in the way. You didn't mention if 4X4 or not which would only add to time for the job.
Ask yourself - Do I have the tools and help?
Couldn't find a procedure thing quickly and would need to know more on the exact vehicle. It may be worth it to you to buy the AllData program for this job to have detailed info at your beck and call.
Make sure diagnosis is correct. If just sticky it may clear out with flush and some solvent to restore smooth operation.

Sorry Mr G, no not 4x4, and I have any and all tools, also the trouble is it is leaking and seems more and more, I already have the new one from Auto zone, was looking for some tips if any out there, I know repairs, just not done a rack & pinion, Thanks

OK: Hope someone here chimes in with more for you on this. I suspect air tools will be a good friend for this too.
Suggestion: Don't allow PS fluid to run low! You'll end up adding a pump to the job if it runs dry.
Didn't know if they still made these AWD (4X4) or not?? I knew of one once! Rear set up was all Borg Warner - I recall that!

You may want to back to Autozone. Thay have a program that they can print out directions as how to do tyhe repair. I looked at their on line site, but they do not have repair for your vehicle.
Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds
