Help please 99 GMC Suburban

post icon Help please 99 GMC Suburban Sign In

I have a 99 GMC Suburban 2 wheel drive 5.8 8 cl vortec engine. Truck started stalling out without any warning then fire right back up. Fuel filter and fuel pump has been changed drove truck around total 30 mins and it starting doing the same thing. Check engine light has never came on and will not throw any codes. If anyone has any advice on this issue please let me now. Thanks.

It's not going to be easy but you are going to have to somehow determine what functions are dropping out when this happens. That will mean rigging up a way to monitor spark and injector pulse while driving.

That's where the proper tools and equipment are required. I have a tool called a flight recorder that can be attached and creates a record of those functions when prompted.

Any good shop will have the ability to do what HT is talking about. Its par for the course with professional shops. You may find yourself money ahead by taking it to a shop for a diagnosis. If its stalling pretty regularly it won't take long to get to the root of the problem with trained eyes and the right tools. You can always decide to do the repair work yourself if what they come up with is within your ability and toolset to do properly.
