Help W/ Transmission Seal on 3.0 1995 Ford Taurus Sign In

1995 Ford Taurus GL
3.0 Engine
Front Wheel Drive, Automatic Transmission

Yesterday I noticed a really bad transmission leak it started slow & now goes fast.. I was told to replace the seal which is circular shape & was also told I have to pull the whole engine in order to replace this.. Is this true ? & what are the actual steps I have to do to fix this.. I am without a vehicle now & need help asap.. Is there anyway to stop the leak? I spent $25 dollars on some stop leak at the auto parts & some lucas stop leak & didnt work I think it actually made it flow quicker... Thanks again...

If a front pump seal there's more problems than the seal usually. They may look like this...........

Seemingly a $12 part but the reason they fail is wobble from other items usually meaning a total trans overhaul!

I'm going by your post that - that's what it is. It might be something else as far as I know from here.

Yes - it means taking whole trans out frequently with engine. Don't buy sideways engines if you don't like the costs they cause,

That's the exact part they showed me! The thing is I got another new 3.0 with 58 thousand miles I heard it's easier just to swap that one in then mess with this transmission is that true? I put a couple courts in this morring & waited & there is no leak now is that due to the fact the stop leak is working or that the engine is finally cold? Very weird I know I need to fix it either way.. The day the leak started I was heavily driving it due to the fact I fixed a Fuel Injector that was broke & I was testing speed differnces & one time I put it in neautral reved it up & thru it in drive.. * stupidity * is my biggest error yes I know... Any other help would be great! Thanks again...

Not sure I understand you Chappy - are you saying you put both a new (used) engine and trans in this car? If so why is there still sealer in the replacements?

Nope havn't did the swap yet I just heard it's easier to do then replace that dumb seal & if I got it shouldn't I just replace engines?? I was saying that the old engine quit leaking once stop leak was placed in it over night & engine cooled wonder if it just leaks when engine gets hot???

That seal generally fails to a front pump or wobble somewhere and seal alone problably won't fix it. Why not fix the problem instead of tossing both engine and trans??
