Help: Car Dying.

Help: Car Dying. Sign In

When I shift my car from park, which it is idling fine at this point, but when I put it into drive my car dies.
I have a 95 Chevy Cavalier.
Any suggestions..

What does it do when you put it in neutral ?

The car still runs just fine when it is in neutral.

Sounds like there may be a problem with the torque converter. It is possible the torque converter lock up solenoid is keeping the converter engaged.

The nuetrual safety switch could have a hand in it or the trans, theres been cases that the throttle positioner sensor cause such problem,....is the chech engine light on?

The check engine light is not on.

Like WTO said, even the t.converter switch could be at fault.....when you have a problem such as this it will be hard to give you a good answer, and its even harder if the check engine light haven't came on, but you could start replacing things we mentioned and still have the problem, this is a sort of thing that a shop might have to handle, sorry I couldn't be more helpful....but maybe someone here may have had the same trouble and found the repair info.
