Help, car vibrates on startup after clutch change.

I recently did a clutch change (DIY), everything has been running well for about 2months now besides the fact that when I start my car the left side vibrates/shakes/rumble more than normal, once the engine has started it runes fine and drives fine, just the initial turn over part.
I've tryed taking out the starter motor and putting it back in but seems to do the same thing. The problem is intermittent but happens prob about 7/10 times I start the car.
I just hope its not slowly wearing something out.

what kind of car do you have? When you had the starter out, did you look at the teeth on the flywheel to see where it is engaging on it? Does it crank at normal speed or slower than normal?

I have a Toyota Levin 97, 4A-GE 20v Blacktop engine in it. Cranks at normal speed just vibrates while its cranking, and doesn't take any longer than normal to start (about 1sec of cranking, pretty much straight away), flywheel teeth we're fine when I put it back on the crank, can't see them now as the bell housings covering it and no way for me to see through the starter hole as its located behind the engine (FWD so between the firewall and the block).
Oh teeth on the starter looks fine too.

Got me stumped here. I'd suspect a motor mount or trans mount but you said the problem goes away when it starts. I'm not that familiar with the foreign cars myself so maybe there is someone else who sees this post and will have encountered the same issue before. Plenty of good techs on this site working on all manner of vehicles.

It almost sounds like a bad or loose mount as Nick had mentioned.
Put a floor jack under the trany with a block of wood and pump it up a few pumps to support the assembly and see if that makes a difference on the starting problem.

I've checked all my mounts they all seem secure, and don't look like their vibrating when i look at it with the bonnet open. I'm gona take a look at it again this afternoon.
Oh i did notice, its not when its cranking (so don't think its the starter) that it vibrates its in the first innitial ignitions, like when the cylinders first fire up, the vibrations only happen less than 1/2 a sec or a pretty short period of time, but main thing i'm worried about is them wearing something out slowly, I'll report back

Try the test with the jack. This will confirm or rule out a mount problem. It only takes a couple of minutes........

oh when the cars jacked up it doesn't happen might I add that, so this afternoon I'm gona try jack it in a different way. just waiting for some help to come cause its easyer to do something with a other people around.

It's always good to have a helper.
You better go over all the mounting, strut & bracket bolts............After you last post it really sounds like you've left something loose........
