I have a 97 Ranger, 2WD, 4cyl. I cant seem to find out why its making so much noise in rear. I know its not the exaust or spare tire. But when i hit bumps it sounds like something is rattling and you can hear me coming all the way down the street. I jump up and down on the back and it doesnt make any noise. Nothing seems to be loose or hanging that would make the noise. What else could it be??

This could be serious! Check that wheel lugs are tight at once! Anything to do with shocks, or strut bars that hold rear diff in place. Keep checking till you find it!

Take the tailgate off and see if noise goes away.
